What an amazing Show…… today has been one of our busiest for quite a few years and a massive thank you to all our visitors who came up over the three days in the glorious but hot sunshine. When it comes to summing up a County Show it is difficult to know where to begin but this year hands down, The Household Cavalry Musical Ride tapped in to the mood of the nation and delivered an emotional and patriotic display every day. The cheers from the crowd matched the cheers on Saturday when the England squad beat Sweden to go through to the semi final. Which we are reliably informed has not happened since 1990.
Every other area of the Show has been simply wonderful with every area, stand, demonstration, competitor, exhibitor, steward, volunteer and staff member putting on one of the most memorable Shows in a while.
We need to thank so many people who help to shape this event, but a list of names does not really suffice, you know who you are and the Kent County Agricultural Society is grateful for everything you do not just on Show days but throughout the year.
To our Traders, thank you for putting on a wonderful display, enduring the heat and making sure our visitors are greeted by friendly staff. The feedback this year has been so positive – maybe it’s the mood of the nation, but we think it is because everyone put in 100%.
Finally, we need to say a fond and heartfelt farewell to our Chairman, Kevin Attwood who took up the reins in 2013 and has steered and guided the Show during a time when visitor numbers were declining. His attention to detail, knowledge of the industry and sheer enthusiasm for the Kent County Show, will prove a hard act to follow and he will be missed by everyone involved.
From the Kent County Show team, thank you, you have all been totally awesome. Next year our Show will be celebrating a milestone, our 90th Show on 5th, 6th & 7th July 2019, so with the Showground emptying all we need to do is say goodbye for 2018 and look forward to seeing everyone in 2019.
