2015 is proving an exciting year for street food, as the movement continues to grow, what started as a few small food stands at local festivals and carnivals has become a countrywide phenomenon and is recognised as a real alternative to restaurant food.
We are really pleased that we have been able to find a number of street food stands for the Kent County Show this year. We still have the old favourites like Cornish Pasties, Fish and Chips and the coffee carts but we have a number of exciting additions. The Curry Cook House from Kent will be bringing their tasty curries with wraps and naan. The Community Chef from Sheppey Matters will be in the new Catering Court by the Bandstand and has an interesting menu including cockles, fish dogs and kebabs. The Devils Pantry is a lovely new street food concession serving home-cooked lamb kofte, chorizo, pork and garlic and halloumi, they will also be in the new catering court and picnic area. The Duck Truck from Essex has taken its inspiration from America, where the Food Truck revolution has coincided with the concept of street food and now many of the best known street corners in America have unusual and different food trucks serving high quality tasty food-to-go. Ed and Vernon have developed the best duck recipes, and cooking techniques, have sourced the finest wraps and established the best sauce recipes. They believe strongly in quality, constant development and improvement they will be serving crispy duck wraps and salads during the three days of the Show.
Not to be missed in the Produced in Kent is Godmersham Game, serving venison burgers, Simply Ice Cream a Kent based dairy who produce wonderful and unusual flavours, Pork and Co with delicious Pulled Pork rolls and Hop Country Meats with a Kentish Hog Roast.
In total we have four main catering courts plus a number of smaller refreshment stands at different entrances, marquees and areas. We also have a wonderful Food Tent with over 40 producers, and the Biddenden Vineyard Wine and Cheese Tent.
