Update on the 2020 Living Land

The Kent County Agricultural Society holds the health and wellbeing of our staff, visitors, and contractors at the heart of everything we do. In light of the new advice from the government on the 18th March, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Living Land event on Thursday 7th May 2020.

The Living Land event is a key part of delivering our charitable objectives and so the decision to cancel was not made easily, however following the changing restrictions around school attendance we are unable to continue to hold the event. We will be in contact with schools, exhibitors and stewards directly.

We are committed to doing business ethically and responsibly. COVID-19 is posing an ever-changing challenge for the UK. We will continue to monitor the situation in regard to our other Society organised events and will respond suitably to keep our staff, visitors and contractors safe and well.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our supporters and look forward to the Living Land returning on 6th May 2021.

About the Living Land

The Living Land is a FREE, one day event offered to Kent school children in years 3 and 4 aimed at educating young children in the areas of farming, agriculture, countryside and healthy eating within the beautiful landscape of the Kent Showground, home to the Kent County Show.

The Living Land is a well-established event, with 2020 hosting the 17th event which is still hugely popular. The timetable of activities includes the opportunity to see and touch farm animals, taste local produce, see dancing sheep at the “Sheep Show”, Birds of Prey and many other displays and demonstrations. Most of the activities are interactive, with a wealth of organisations on hand to share their knowledge with the children and can easily be linked to the school curriculum.

The educational experience is invaluable and taking pupils away from the normal classroom environment, enhances the ability to learn.

The event is free to schools, although we are unable to cover the cost of your coach and travel expenses.

This is a very popular event and places are limited to 2800 children.

Please note this is not a public event. Children can only attend with their school.
