The Food and Farming area will be moving to the Agricultural area and will have a whole host of awesome activities and displays to highlight the importance of farming and learning about where our food comes from.
The cute factor will be an interactive farm from Surrey Docks Mobile Farm they will be bringing a Shetland pony, Roo the goat with 2 kids, lambs, chickens and other small animals.
Our visitors will also be able to have a go with the smoothie bikes, an ingenious activity combining exercise and healthy eating. Pedal the bike to generate enough power to make your very own smoothie using fresh ingredients.
There will also be an opportunity to make your own bread, learn about the ingredients, methods and what happens in the proving stage and then pop back to taste your very own roll.
LEAF, an educational organisation dedicated to helping children learn about farming and the countryside will be there with the National Fruit Show. Their Stand will be called ‘an apple a day’! Kent is one of the best apple growing county’s in the UK so visitors can pop over to make some fresh apple juice. You can also taste a variety of different fresh apples from the traditional cox to new and innovative varieties. They will also have apple crisps and fruit leathers to explore what is the most nutritional way to eat for health.
Other activities will include ride on children’s tractors, Blossom a have-a-go milking cow, examples of how tractors have changed over the past century and the wonderful Cookery Theatre. This area is well worth a visit and our young visitors will love it.
