The Kent County Show on 6, 7, 8, July 2018 is launching #dontloseyourbottle, a plastic recycling initiative in collaboration with Kent Wildlife Trust to encourage visitors to recycle their plastics at the Show.
For 2018, the Kent County Show has installed more recycling points across the Showground to make recycling easier for visitors. Kent Wildlife Trust also has a recycling point on their stand where visitors can swap their plastic bottles for a small gift.
Show Manager, Lucy Hegarty, said ‘single use plastics have a real impact on our environment and we want to help reduce this at the Kent County Show. Our campaign will make recycling at the Show easier for visitors and we hope that everyone will join us in this important effort to look after our environment.’
Visitors to the Show can find plastic recycling points across the Showground and are invited to use #dontloseyourbottle on social media to help spread the word. The campaign is part of Kent Wildlife Trust’s wider initiative called Guardians of the Deep which aims to involve the local community in the protection and monitoring of Kent’s coastal wildlife. Find Kent Wildlife Trust’s stand in the Woodland Area, which is Guardians of the Deep themed, to learn more about their project and how to get involved.
For the Kent County Agricultural Society, organisers of the Kent County Show and owners of the beautiful Murrain Wood, the protection of the environment is essential to the future of farming. Alongside the #dontloseyourbottle campaign, visitors to the Show can find a collection of activities and groups that engage in sustainable practices. Frankie Woodgate brings her working horses to the Show and demonstrates how they are used as an environmentally friendly method of log extraction in the timber industry. The Kent Guides and Scouts will also be in the Woodland Area showing how they use the outside in their activities and how they look after it, or visit Simply the Bees Knees in the Enterprise Zone and discover their bees wrap, an environmentally friendly alternative to clingfilm.
