The Kent County Show will once again be the venue for the Institute of Directors, Kent Branch Business Breakfast. The event which will take place on the first day of the Show will be welcoming guest speaker, Olympic Medal winner, Duncan Goodhew.
The event sponsors, Southern Water are delighted that Duncan, ambassador for their ‘Learn to Swim’ programme will address the large Kent business community expected to attend. The programme launched in 1992 has helped more than 650,000 four to twelve year olds to learn this vital skill.
Duncan Goodhew became a household name as one of the country’s most respected swimmers when he won a gold medal in the 100m breast stroke and a bronze medal for the 4 x 10m medley relay in the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
Duncan will be speaking to the delegates about his life as a businessman, author and ambassador.
Kent IOD Branch Chairman, Emma Liddiard said “The Kent Branch of the IoD are delighted to welcome Duncan Goodhew as our guest speaker for the 2014 breakfast. He is well remembered as a massive inspiration to many people and his drive and ambition in the world of sport can be, I am sure, replicated in business. He is a great addition to the big names we have had speak at past breakfasts and we look forward to hearing from him.
“We are also pleased that we can once again support the Kent County Show that promotes all that is good in our rural industries. We could not have done so without the sponsorship of Southern Water.”
IoD Kent is one of the most active in the country with membership exceeding 1,500 and pioneers working with young people entering business.
Lucy Hegarty, Show Manager said “The IoD Breakfast has become a regular event and we are delighted that they choose to recognize the importance of the rural sector in Kent. The breakfast is always very well supported and our new Maidstone Exhibition Hall will be a wonderful new talking point for the event.”
