The Band will appear on Saturday and Sunday

They only formed in 2011, so are quite a young yet progressive band but aim to share the knowledge and experience of the Great Highland Bagpipes and Drums to the public. The band are currently under the direction of Pipe Major Gareth Utting (Ex-Scots Guards) and Pipe Sergeant Paul Burgess. Along with the experience of many other senior members, the band has advanced in a short period of time. They are registered with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and compete at South East England Branch competitions, with the desire to continue to improve as a group.

The advancing success of the band, however, must be owed to the members of whom have shown such enthusiasm and dedication. During 2011, the unity of the members was clearly shown as for the first few months were spent practicing under the M11 motorway due to a lack of funds and premises. The band then held various fundraisers in Trafalgar Square in order to find the costs of uniforms and practice hall.

Over the years, increased publicity in the local area has allowed the band to perform at various events in Waltham Forest. The band annually perform at Armed Forces Day and Remembrance Day Parades at Walthamstow Town Hall while also leading the St George’s Day Parade through Chingford. They will continue to perform at events such as these to share our passion for our music with the community in hope to encourage new members.

Their repertoire includes Scotland the Brave, Flower of Scotland, Amazing Grace and other bagpipe specials.
