George Jessel Esq DL, Chairman

Background: Deputy Lieutenant for Kent, Kent Ambassador and a Farmer of 1,200 acres arable/dairy. Interest in diversification - offices/storage. Recently established and sold the Kent Cheese Company to a local competitor and took his wife on holiday to Africa. Two children ages 11 and 12. Married to Vicki for 14 years.

Mary Anthony, Vice Chair

Married to a retired naval officer, two sons (one passed away in 2011). Four grandchildren. Farming for the last 25 years breeding pedigree texels. Has been a Magistrate for over 30 years and has been involved with the Kent County Agricultural Society since 1986, initially stewarding with horses, but now as a Director. In depth catering experience and people orientated jobs over the years. Mary has worked extensively with a number of Charities over the years and has been particularly active with 'Save the Children'.

Glyn Charlton, Finance Director

Background is agriculture consultant to the dairy industry; running his own farmer co-operative called the SKS Group. Prior to that practical farming. Chairman of East Farleigh Parish Council. Parish Councillor for six years. Hadlow Governor. Been involved with the appeal trust for 350 children in Ethiopia that otherwise would not have been educated. Married to Jayne for 37 years, three children, five grandchildren.

Charles Tassell, Director

Charles runs a diversified arable & top fruit farm in Ulcombe. Did an ONDA at Hadlow College 1979 - 81, followed up by the Worshipful Company of Farmers farm management course at Wye College in 1997. Kent NFU Chairman 2009 – 2011, during which time he was also chairman of Why Farming Matters in Kent, which runs the display of farming at the Kent Show, plus other events throughout the year, including school visits. Director of Farming in the Park Ltd, who aim to put on a Festival of Food & Farming in Hyde Park 2013 attracting around 1 million visitors. Previously he has been a committee member of the Marden Fruit Show, now the National Fruit Show, and the chairman of the Kent technical committee of the Arable Research Centres, now The Arable Group. KCAS Council member and Traffic steward for over 10 years and Chief Steward since 2010. Hobbies include motorcycling and Church bell ringing.

Anthony Curwen, Director

Managing Director of Quex Park Estates which farms 1500 acres in-house and a further 1800 acres by contract. Cropping includes wheat and other combinable crops plus 180 acres of potatoes. It also has its own beef herd. Quex Park has diversified into many areas and is now a visitor attraction and events centre with over a quarter a million visits per year. He is trustee of the internationally important Powell-Cotton Museum which is at the centre of Quex Park.

John Coultrip, Director

Very well known in Kent for the finest Aberdeen Angus herd and commercial sheep. John also farms mixed Arable. He was on the Board of Directors for the Angus Society for 9 years and President in 2009. Chairman Kent Woolgrowers for 3 years and a Board Member for 20years. Judged at the Royal Highland Show, Royal Show and the All Irish Championship. President and Executive Director of the Royal Smithfield Club.

Director of the Romney Sheep Breeders. Has lectured abroad on Aberdeen cattle. Became a Director of the Kent County Agricultural Society in 2011. John is a Nuffield Scholar studying production of beef and sheep in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

Kevin Attwood, Director

Attended Wye College, graduated in 1981 and went back to the family farm to grow the business. Still farms within a family partnership comprising of his parents and brother. Responsible for 4000 acres of arable land growing mainly wheat and oilseed rape. From 2006-7 was Chairman of the Swale Branch of the NFU. From 2008-2009 was NFU Kent County Chairman and in 2010 became Kent County NFU delegate and is currently NFU SE Region Board Chairman. Has been a co opted KCAS board director since March 2010

Mark Lumsdon-Taylor, Director

Director of Finance & Resources at Hadlow College, Board Director of Kent County Agricultural Society for 5 years. Mark worked in corporate finance in London before moving to Hadlow College in 2003 to instigate its turnaround. Awarded UK Finance Director of the Year 2007 and International Finance Executive in 2011. Mark is passionate about agriculture and has championed the expansion of Hadlow College farms as well as many initiatives including Fresh Start. He is a member of Kent Rural Board, and is a Medway School governor. Mark enjoys classic cars and likes to spend time at his home on the coast.

Roz Day, Director

Has run the Kent County Show Flower Tent since 1993 and has chaired the Education Committee since 2005. Her Family has been involved with the Society for eighty years. Married to William Day, Roz together with their eldest son Alan helps to run the mixed 1,000 ace family farm of Alfred Day & Son, while Patrick their younger son is a vet. Roz is also a Director of Clearly Juice Ltd, which produces award winning apple juice.
