This year, the Hadlow Group marquees – including Hadlow College, West Kent & Ashford Colleges and Betteshanger Parks – will have a countryside and sustainability theme, with a host of exciting stands and interactive activities on offer. Hadlow Group are principal partners for the Kent County Show 2016 and support and sponsor a number of competitions and the main Agricultural Rings.
Hadlow College can be found in the Agricultural Area stand 24 with their sheep shearing team located next door on stand 23. West Kent and Ashord College are on Stand 46, just behind Hadlow and the Betteshanger Park stand can be found on stand 122.
Visitors can watch floristry demonstrations and cooking with seasonal produce, pot their own basil plant to take home, or try a lucky dip and meet Davina – their life-sized model horse – in the Equine area of the Hadlow stand. Those looking for a challenge can participate in their Sports faculty sit-up/press-up competitions, have a go in an interactive race car simulator designed and built by students or try your hand at inflating an 18-ft tree using only pedal power at the Betteshanger Parks stand.
There are music performances, complimentary hair and beauty treatments, plus carpentry and wall-building demos. Our Countryside faculty will demonstrate pole lathe wood-turning and use of green woodworking tools; Agriculture students will be showcasing their lambing simulator and electronic ear tag demos.
Other features include a display garden and fishpond, ‘dream career’ photo booth, lino printing and a hydroponic green wall.
